St. John’s Episcopal Church is an active and historic community church. We openly Welcome ALL who walk through our doors as an individual sent by God who will enrich our lives. On Sundays, we come together as the people of God to celebrate the life and message of Christ. We hope you will honor us with a visit and we look forward to sharing God’s love with you.

We are located in Havre de Grace at 114 N. Union Ave, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.

Of course we would love to meet you in person, please join us at any of our events list on our calendar or setup a time to meet in person through our church office.
Where do I park?
Park along Union Ave on the street, there is plenty of parking available, especially next to the Library on Pennington Ave.
What do I wear?
Come as you are and wear whatever makes you comfortable. Some members get more dressed up, some less.
COVID-19 Masking Requirements: currently mandatory mask use has been reinstitute for all indoor events, regardless of vaccination status or percentage of congregation vaccinated.
What about my kids?
Children are always welcome at all our services. We feel our worship is enhanced by their joyful sounds and participation.
What are your services like?
Currently due to COVID-19 we have one service which starts at 9:30am it is a traditional service with music.
You will be greeted at the door by our ushers and given a bulletin. Please make yourself comfortable and sit anywhere you wish. If you have any questions or get lost in the service, feel free to ask for help.
We have placed on hold the 8am traditional spoken service and 10:30am traditional service with music. Each service will start with our opening prayer followed by the lessons from the Bible, a sermon and the celebration of Holy Communion.
Our fellowship between services has been placed on hold. We look forward to the day when we can all join together in our new parish hall for a cup of tea/coffee and fellowship. Until then we pray for everyones safety and health so we can fellowship together again.
Will I be welcome at Communion?
Holy Communion, otherwise known as Mass or Holy Eucharist, is celebrated every Sunday. If you are not baptized, you are welcome receive a blessing by crossing your arms across your breast at the distribution of Communion.
What do Episcopalians believe?
We believe in a loving God, manifest in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Episcopal Church website explains our beliefs further in: What We Believe
What if I want to join the church?
We would love to have you join our family. It is not complicated, it just starts by letting us know. Please say something to our priest after the service or contact the church office.
How do I get baptized?
Holy Baptism is a sacrament by which we are made part of Christ’s Body, the Christian Church. We delight in welcoming the newly baptized into our family as partners in Christ’s life and ministry. We promise to do all in our power not only to make your baptism a joyous event, but also make sure you are supported in your life in Christ. Please say something to our priest after the service or contact the church office if you are interested in pursuing baptism.

- Take Exit 89 towards Havre De Grace
- Continue on 155 straight onto Superior St
- Superior St turns right and becomes N Juniata St
- Turn left onto Otsego St
- Otsego St turns right and becomes N Union Ave
- Destination is on your right after the library – 114 N Union Ave
Directions from the south on Rte. 40 (Aberdeen)
- US-40 E/N Philadelphia Blvd
- Continue to follow US-40 E
- Keep right to continue on MD-7A E/Revolution St
- Turn left onto S Union Ave
- Destination on the left 114 N Union Ave
Directions from the north on Rte. 40 (Perryville)
- US-40 over the Hatem Memorial Bridge
- Turn left onto Otsego St (at the Waffle House)
- Otsego St turns right and becomes N Union Ave
- Destination will be on the right after the library – 114 N Union Ave
