St. John’s Episcopal Church is an active and historic community church. We openly welcome all who walk through our doors as an individual sent by God who will enrich our lives. On Sundays, we come together as the people of God to celebrate the life and message of Christ. We hope you will honor us with a visit and we look forward to sharing God’s love with you.
Where do I go?
Park along the street, there is plenty of parking available, especially next to the Library. You will be greeted at the door by our ushers and given a bulletin. Please make yourself comfortable and sit anywhere you wish. If you have any questions or get lost in the service, feel free to ask for help.
What do I wear?
Whatever makes you comfortable. Some members get more dressed up, some less.
What about my kids?
Children are always welcome at all our services. We feel our worship is enhanced by their joyful sounds and participation.
What are your services like?
We have two services on Sundays at St. John’s. The first at 8am is a traditional spoken service. At 10:30am we have another traditional service but this time with music. Each service will start with our opening prayer followed by the lessons from the Bible, a sermon and the celebration of Holy Communion. You are most welcome to join us in our parish house between our two services for a cup of tea/coffee and fellowship.
Will I be welcome at Communion?
Holy Communion, otherwise known as the Eucharist or “thanksgiving,” is usually celebrated every Sunday. Everyone regardless of age or background is welcome to join us up at the Alter. If you have not been baptized, just cross your arms to receive a blessing. All Christians who have been baptized may receive the bread and wine.
What do Episcopalians believe?
A simple answer might be to say that we believe in God, in Jesus Christ the Son of God, and in the Holy Spirit. But for a better explanation please go to:What We Believe
What if I want to join the church?
We would love to have you join our family. It is not complicated, it just starts by letting us know. Please say something to our priest after the service or contact the church office.
How do I get baptized?
Holy Baptism is a sacrament by which we are made part of Christ’s Body, the Christian Church. We delight in welcoming the newly baptized into our family as partners in Christ’s life and ministry. We promise to do all in our power not only to make your baptism a joyous event, but also make sure you are supported in your life in Christ. Please say something to our priest after the service or contact the church office if you are interested in pursuing baptism.
